I think it depends on the particular dish: certain Thai dishes are healthy & certain Chinese dishes are healthy.

I think Chinese cuisine may use more oil and also MSG but Thai food is high in coconut milk.

I prefer Thai food: it's spicy but full of flavor!

It really depends on what dishes exactly are being considered, 'cus when you just say Chinese Vs Thai, you're comparing entire cuisines. As for soups, both Chinese and Thai soups are great, and healthy too. But for the most part I would prefer Chinese soup for health (there are many chinese herbal soups available) and Thai soups for a fiery indulgence like a solid Tom Yam soup (WooHoo!!)... Plus, there are variety of cooking styles in each cuisine: frying, boiling, stewing, stir-frying, grilling, roasting, etc, etc... So, the issues of which is healthier and which is more tasty really depends on what dish you are eating.

And anyway, as far as food is concerned, to get the most benefits and taste out of it, it must be consumed in moderation 'cus too much of a good thing can also turn out bad. :-)

I think that they both are healthy. But I like to make my own at home rather than eat in the resturant. They tend to add too much oil and MSG and other crap. Home made Chinese and Thai are excellent, especially if you can find authenic cookbooks. And they taste very little like the versions you find in most resturants.

I would like to add a note on MSG though. A whole lot of people are allergic to it. They come out of Chinese resturants with headaches and stomach aches and never realize why. The problem is that there is a whole list of food additives that go under different names that are nothing more than MSG. Aspertame is one. This is why so many people have problems with it. But to further the problem Most fast food resturants [not just Chinese] use MSG. Here is a list of a few names MSG can go under:
- Monosodium Glutamate
- Potassium Glutamate
- Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein (HVP)*
- Hydrolyzed Protein*
- Hydrolyzed Plant Protein*
- Hydrolyzed [Anything else]*
- Plant Protein Extract
- Sodium Caseinate
- Calcium Caseinate
- Yeast Extract
- Textured Protein
- Autolyzed Yeast
- Hydrolyzed Oat Flour
If you have problems with Aspertame you should also avoid these additives. Remember though this is a partial list.

I think that Thai food is better, but I'm biased because I lived there for 7 years. If you want good Thai or Chinese food you should go to a restaurant that is authentic and not Americanized.

The "Americanized" Chinese food is nothing like the real thing. Real chinese food does not overload on oil. Instead, vegetables are emphasized, MSG is rarely if ever used.

Thai food is more "natural" compared to Americanized chinese food.

I think the Americanized Chinese is more tasty, but this is all opinion. I don't like the peanut sauce they usually use in Thai.

They are very different and I like both, Thai green curry chicken tastes great. Tom Yum Kung is amazing too.

But I would say Chinese - Cantonese - homemade food (streaming, stir-frying dishes) are healthier, I'm a Cantonese, so I vote for Chinese food.

Thai food is more spicy and they like deep fried food.

In my opinion, thai food is healtier because there are a lot of sauces, noodles that doesn't have MSG content. Chinese foods however are too oily and rich in fat (although Chinese foods taste good) which is unhealthy for your body especially your liver and your circulatory system.

I prefer the american version of chinese food compared to thai, mainly becase i don't like peanuts and if something is too spicy I can't taste the flavor. The spiciness kind of over powers it.
