The thing with that is if you're sucking the mucus up, you're probably sucking the air directly from that person's lungs.
There are other antimucus drugs on the market; if those don't fit what you need you might need to hospitalize this person to get them intubated if it's serious. If it's just stuck mucus that won't come out, try mucinex or something.

There are actually suction machines that are used in hospitals and nursing homes. All you need is a prescription from the doctor, and one visit from a home-health nurse to show you how to use it.

You need hot tea, chicken soup, echinacea, cough drops, a vaporizer, cold medication and a extra blanket.
