There should be a "Best Before" date (day/month/year) on the label, usually near one of the edges. You can still eat it up to about a month after this date.
If you don't use a clean knife, vegemite can grow mold, due to the high yeast content I think. Otherwise, no, it doesn't go bad.
Enjoy!

Being that I was born and raised in Australia. Personally I think you may want to throw it out, you have had it for over a year. Yes Vegemite is meant to have a long shelf life, but I wouldn't eat it especially if it has been already opened. The guy who that created Vegemite meant for it to be a stable product that could travel and be versatile. Even back in world war two the guys who were shipped off to fight, took it with them. Be warned Vegemite is an acquired taste, and comes is many forms now, even Vegemite cheese. My mum always tried to get us to eat it, out of the 3 of us only my sister and my mum liked it. I hope this helps you out. Also you may want to check out there website: www.vegemite.com.au

As long as the jar-seal hasn't been broken it should be OK, just like any other commercial canned food. BUT, if it has been opened and it is past it's date, then chuck it.
That's nasty stuff, btw -- I tried it once. It's axle-grease that I would never want to develop a 'taste' for [/shudder].

If you've never opened it, it's probably still good. Most food in cans or jars has a shelf life of several years.

How the hell would you know ??
Have you ever actually eaten this stuff ??
I'm telling you it HAS to be an acquired taste !!
If you try this stuff-- I'm telling you now-- have something really really strong to back you up here--- like a good steep double shot of Jackie D !!!
When I had MY first big bite of this stuff -- I would have washed my mouth out with vinegar if I had had any !!!!
So, Bad ?? Once again--- how the hell would you know ???
