My friend and I share the same birthday, and we are trying to put a theme together, we both frequent the local bar and can rent the back room to fit a band, and about 200 people, sure the band is fun by its self but we want to do something that hasn't been done yet. and we are just not creative enough to think of anything. any help would be awesome. also should I "open the bar for a few hours"

if you can afford it, opening the IS great....
but... another thing to think of... is to maybe just pay for special shots to be brought around at certain times? if you DO go w/ a theme party, then the "special shot" that was suggested earlier would be a good way to go...
is it a certain "type" of band? that could help determine what kind of party you would want to make it...

First birthday parties are fun!!! We didn't do any games but we only had one other toddler. Instead of a game why not do a simple art project. Maybe get a canvas picture and have everyone that comes to the party do a hand print - for the children the parents can write their names by their hand print. Games could be of course pin the tail on the donkey (or using a character of your party and using tape). Fly kites or get out a bubble machine If it is a home- blow up tons of balloons, throw them on the floor, turn on some music and let the kids kick and throw and play in the balloons.

A color party... Pick both of your fav colors and that be the theme... Have all the decorations and food be those colors... Name your fav drink after the two of you... or an inside joke that yall have as a group... If you open the bar for a few hours it is going to be expensive so maybe you should just have a specialty drink free.

Togo parties are always fun
any kind of party that allows guest to dress up will be fun...

If you can afford to "open the bar" for a few hours that would be great.

Some ideas, have everyone who comes in wear a hawaiian lei. Then have some girls or guys walk around with a "specialty" shot and make a special drink.

Make it a theme party and have everyone dress up as their favorite movie character or their favorite super hero. Make it a costume party thats always fun.

Have a prize for the best costume.

Do an 80's theme! Invite everyone to show up in ripped jeans and Swatches and gaudy earrings. And guys have to do the vamped hair and gals in bouffant hair. Tacky anything! Get a sheet of paper and everyone can write requests for memories from 1980 to 1989, and have them read off during the break and people have to guess who they are.

Give prizes for " how low can you go" ( limbo ). It's a hoot when people have had a few drinks. Also, have some other funky dances that anyone can do.... the bunny hop, whatever. Have a great time !!!!
