my 5 year old was just diagnosed by his pulmonlogist with this and im so confused on what it is. You no the doctor tells you and your stuck on what to ask until you leave?(LOL) I tried doing web searches but i need it explained in laimens terms im not a doctor!! Thanks for any help!!

It's a genetic disorder. The cilia (little hairs) in the airways become immobile and cause impaired mucous clearance. It's also associated with obstructive pulmonary disorders like Bronchietasis. For this reason, it could and probably should be classified as a chronic obstructive disorder (COPD) just like the other classics (Asthma, Emphysema, and Chronic Bronchitis). I'll post a good link in the sources section. It's also called Primary ciliary dyskinesia or PCD.
