High blood sugar actually causes you to lose weight because your body is expelling the sugar it is not processing through your kidneys and into your urine. Until I finally went on insulin I lost 40-50lbs. Once on insulin I very quickly gained back about 15-20lbs but that was acceptable to my doctor because I was looking very sickly. I finally feel and look good again, thanks to the insulin.

In type 2 diabetes insulin levels are high, much higher than in someone without diabetes. The cells are resistant insulin that allows glucose to enter. The pancreas responds by releasing MORE insulin to overcome this resistance. When the pancreas is not long able to keep up, diabetes is diagnosed. Insulin is thought of a glucose lowering hormone, however, it does MANY more things than just lower glucose levels. One of them is to signal conversion of excess calories, like glucose, to fat and to store it. It's important to remember that long before a person with diabetes is diagnosed they have been in a state of insulin resistance and most likely hyperinsulinemia, and this extra insulin would be doing it's other jobs not knowing that the cells aren't getting the needed glucose, just knowing that there's still lots of glucose in the blood so there must be more calories here than needed...convert them, store them. Add that a person who is insulin resistant is having a hard time getting the fuel they need into their cells. The body is most likely signaling that they need fuel. We get fuel from eating. The easiest and favorite fuel of our bodies is glucose, or sugar. the body most likely will "crave" the easiest quickest fuel there is to feed it...sugar, which would raise glucose levels very quickly and get fuel to those starving cells. however, again, the body does not understand the resistance...so even though there's plenty of glucose in the blood, it still thinks there's no fuel, the pancreas releases more insulin to get that excess glucose into the cells, extra insulin doesn't understand, it says store the extra glucose and the cells are still starving. The persons cells are starving, even though the person is gaining weight.

A diabetic that is losing weight is usually one that is not producing insulin, as in type 1's who do not produce insulin or type 2's who hav e either a pancreas that has reached it's threshold or is just exhausted and is actually producing less insulin. This is not that common in type 2's (weightloss), at least not for many years after diagnosis.

As everyone has stated; high BSL causes you to lose weight.

Some people will argue and say insulin does not cause you to put on weight. I'm not one of those people.

Here are some of the reasons why insulin can make you gain weight:

- People who have poorly controlled diabetes sometimes experience weight loss because their bodies are unable to properly convert food into energy. Taking insulin reverses that process and can result in a weight gain.

- When blood glucose runs high, you can become dehydrated as your body works to clear itself of all that excess glucose. Getting your blood glucose under better control can cause you to retain fluid.

- Once you start taking insulin injections, glucose in your blood can get into the body's cells and be used rather than remaining in your bloodstream and being excreted in your urine. Therefore, you're body is storing calories.

- High blood glucose may cause people to feel hungry and eat more, because not all the food taken in can be properly processed to nourish the cells. Frequently, eating patterns continue after insulin has been started and is allowing more efficient use of nutrients. (More calorie absorbsion again)

- Some people cut back on their insulin once they discover they can lose a few pounds quickly by doing so. But when they go back to using the right amount of insulin, they discover that they gain the weight back (and sometimes more) just as fast.

They have introduced another drug, that is to be used in conjuction with insulin, and helps with weight-loss and results in needing less insulin. You can read about it here: http://www.diabetesmonitor.com/symlin.htm

It's the insulin that can cause weight gain.

Weight gain is common after starting insulin therapy. Many people gain 0.5- 1.5 kg (1-3 pounds) as the insulin begins to control their blood sugar. Weight gain is more common in women than in men, but, it's difficult to predict who will gain weight. Weight gain may result as a direct complication of diabetes or be related to medication being taken to treat other complications, such as antipsychotics.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

the constant high blood sugar does the opposite. You loose weight as the calories are just flushed away. With most it is the insulin and or other meds.

Diabetese doesn't cause weight gain. rather it causes weight loss due to non supply of glucose to body cells.
