Because for some strange reason they find us vegi/vegans funny because we don't eat meat or like me meat and dairy-hahaha so funny! To be honest some friends have made jokes n i laugh with them coz i know they r only joking, it's the people who make jokes but u can tell they r bein serious and nasty bout it that get me-not upset jst angers me but really we should just laugh back at there narrow mindedness, at the end of they day they can't help thinking that way because they have been brought up like that and r too scared or lazy to actually look into the facts of why we don't eat meat. don't get me wrong im not an animal activist i do think some of them go way to far but i am a supporter of PETA, they don't get on meat eaters cases like a bible basher gets on none religious people backs, they are here to show the human race what animals have to endure, what is wrong with that? Just laugh back with your family and then if it gets too much i wud personally bite back with sum facts to shut them up!

Mostly in the UK it's a case of they don't want to be put out. They look at a vegetarian option in a restaurant and believe that they could have another choice instead if it wasn't for you, or that people like you cause extra time and effort to cook two different meals. Which is ignorance in both cases. Meat is jsut so engrained in western culture it's hard to break. Belief's about your health are also unfounded, all the dangers of a diet without meat disappear after you have reached your full growth, and protein can come from dairy if you eat it, or from supplements.

Why do vegetarians and vegans look down upon meat eaters? From my experiences they can become fanatical about the whole thing! Humanising animals. Look at what Heather Mills has just filmed! And that pathetic, whining, judgmental (yess! That is the word! Judgmental) voice! The woman should get a life!
I think it is the "holier than thou!" attitude that gets up peoples' noses. What gives you the right to judge what other people are eating? Okay, judge in silence if you must, but do not go on about it in such a fanatical way!
I eat meat, but only free-range. I eat vegetables and enjoy them. But I do go on about it when vegetarians eat around me.

lots of people have predjudices. While we would like to imagine and pretend that humans have evolved past that most haven't in reality. Just as some people hate others of certain color or religion some people hate vegetarians because they make a different choice.
I say thank goodness not everyone is the same!!

I dont! My best friend Dave is a vegitarian and since i met him i have tried to many new foods! Houmus loving that..and goats cheese! Not stopped eating meat but still love the vegie diet..I dont agree with pressing opinions on people tho which some veggies do..if i wanna eat it ill eat it! But what you do is cool to..i can see thet point but humans were designed to eat meat..but the way it is done today is awful and i agree with that too..Good luck in your veggie quest! :) x

Do you push your ideas on other people? They could be quick to defend themselves. As long as you are doing it for the right reasons and making sure you understand fully what it means to be a vegetarian and making sure you have a well balanced meal, then I wouldn't criticize. I would say something to someone who eats only carrots, or cheese! Take Care!

People are used to following the thought process of the masses. If someone takes an approach thats different than normal, people can't wrap their closed minded brains around a new concept. They are following the herd (literally) and when you stray from the herd (literally) they can't understand it. I think its the same situation for all vegetarians. My daughter gets picked on in school about, but she could care less. She just smiles and carries on.

Don't take any notice of those who you say look down on you, its your choice of living and they should respect that !.
I eat meat but it has become less often, and some of the best food Ive ever had contains no meat, like rosemary roast veggies, pasta sauce and chili.

It's just something different. You know how the human race acts upon ideas or customs thought to be different to a certain cultures. Since most Americans are fastfoodavores, they find it wierd for someone to be different than themselves.
