The president of PETA is VERY well known for her famous quote:

"When it comes to having a central nervous system, and the ability to feel pain, hunger, and thirst, a rat is a pig is a dog is a boy." --Ingrid Newkirk

But, on the other hand, PETA makes no secret about the fact that they euthanize unwanted animals, although they admit it is tragic:

SOOOO, if humans started overpopulating, would PETA advocate euthanasia for humans???

a rat is a pig is a dog is a BOY......

You are comparing apples to oranges. It IS tragic that animals must be euthanized and PETA hates it as much as the next guy but is a life in a shelter a life worth living? Sadly, they ALL cannot be saved. There are just not enough homes and It's the fault of people that there are so many animals unwanted. If half the people who have a dog or cat just spayed or neutered, the problem would be much less.

Head on over to the pet section on Yahoo Answers....there are hundreds of questions a week regarding what to do with the puppies their dog had or kittens their cat had. Those people are a tiny fraction of the huge problem.

I see people in here all the time bashing PETA for euthanizing but I'm guessing these same people don't do squat to help these very same animals.

1. I am not a peta member.

2. Peta does not speak for all of the animal rights community ( as you may or may not know)

3. I agree with her quote. However I disagree with Peta's practices, tactics, emphasis on welfare, giving awards to slaughterhouse designers (Temple Granden), praising animal exploiters (Whole Foods), and cult like behavior regarding the "father" of the animal rights work, Peter Singer.

As far as am concerned Peta (and every other large organization) is nothing but a detriment to our movement. They are motivated by money, with the overall goal of doing nothing more than acquiring more money.

As go's with anything I say, I'm happy to discuss/ debate these points with anyone who would like to. It is imperative we talk about this stuff.

I am a member of PETA.

In the page that you linked to, it did not state that PETA themselves euthanize animals. All it said was that they hate it, but it is sometimes necessary, and it wouldn't be if people spayed and neutered their animals.
That said, I have a question of my own: Why are there always meat eaters in the vegetarian section giving us a hard time. Have we done anything to hurt them or upset them? We choose to live cruelty-free. Why would that make anyone mad? What we choose to eat and wear and protest about is our own business. And we aren't hurting anyone.

PETA is a "wrong" agency as far as how they advocate "forced neuter and spay", if it is true that that is what they do...

No because there are other agencies who ALREADY DO THAT.

You're an unwanted baby.
you should die
You've been critically injured in a car accident
you should die
You're old
you should die
You've got terminal cancer
you should die.

There you have it, right out of the mouth of the first person who responded to your question.

They would have no problem euthanizing anyone who doesn't agree with them. That's your typical lib. Just like Heinrich Freakin' Himmler. Put the libs in charge and they'll open the death camps. Libs are the most Un-American people in the world. they are worse than Islamofascists.

I am a member of PETA and I know that we would agree to euthinize only certain wrong thinking segments of society. Mainly, Neocons.
