I think that all started because people in the meat industry don't consider fish to be meat. which is wrong of course. Just another way for the beef industry to make a gain.

It's not. Vegetarians do not eat fish. Those who say they are vegetarians and eat fish are mistaken..mostly due to all the false info floating around.

Take what star_lite57 below said. Completely wrong information being spread once again. You cannot be a vegetarian and eat a dead animal...it makes no sense. Anyone that eats any type of animal flesh is an omnivore..plain and simple.

Double negative in your sentence which makes it true; they are animals and should not be part of a vegeterian's diet.

In reference to your question: it is okay for them to eat it to obtain their Omega fats, but well they're not vegeterians anymore. Also if one has not been eating meat for a while it may upset their stomach if they start back to eating meat.

Vegeterians who choose to eat fish have forsaken their commitment and have to start over. All this metro-vegeterian and part chicken/vegeterian is not correct. Either be a total vegeterian or stay eating meat.

Persons choosing to become vegeterians should do their homework for the missing nutrients they would not be getting had they stayed eating meat. B vitamins and Omega fats. If one who says they're vegeterian and eating fish to get their Omega fats need to do their homework and find alternative Omega fat products (flaxseeds and something else I can't think of @ present).

I am a vegetarian because of animal rights, but I'm 13 and my mother makes me eat fish, but I usually don't. I try to avoid it a much as possible and if there is a vegetarian option, I will always have that. I always feel depressed after i eat fish because I think it is wrong. I also think it is wrong to pick and choose the animals you eat, as if ones life matters more than the other. But what can I do, it is my mothers orders. And also, I will eat fish when I go to Japan, because: 1. My mom will make me and 2. I want to experience Japan to it's fullest, and that includes food. But I still wish I didn't have to eat fish...
I will make up for it as an adult by becoming vegan.

All you radical vegetarians, (I am one also) ranting about how fish isn't a vegetable, is cheese a vegetable?

Vegetarian is simply a label, we need to understand that most of all. I do not and have not eating fish or meat of any kind for 17 years. I was a vegan for 5 1/2 years.

Vegetarian is for the most part a false label because most of you eat dairy, some eat eggs. Only vegans are true vegetarians, stop lying to yourselfs.

The more people claiming to be vegetarian, the better off we all are, power comes in numbers. Stop judging and labeling people. Welcome, to all who want to call themselves vegetarian.

No, it is not ok for vegetarians to eat fish. In the western world, people try to persuade giving lectures of vegans, vegetarians, veggie vegans, eggetarians etc etc. But it is all b*llsh*t. There is only one category in vegetarianism - pure vegetarianism - eat no meat (includes any living being or dead 'living being'), no egg etc.

hands up, i am guitly of calling myself a vegy and eating fish, although i always say that i eat fish. No, vegys do not eat fish.
Pescatarians eat fish but not meat, but can you see that every time i want to write pescatarian, i write vegy cos it is so much shorter? I ususally say i eat fish anyway...
So yes, they are animals, they have been proven to have feelings, but people (such as me) do call themselves vegys and eat them
my reasons are not very justified, but ill give it a go-i like fish, and have only just 4 months ago stopped eating meat. I still have time! Fish do get a better life int he sea before they are killed for food...but if i truly believed that was my excuse then i would just eat free range meat.
Truth is, i want to keep up my protein, and just wean myslef off meat and fish!

It's not, vegetarians only eat animal made products, like milk or eggs. Vegans don't eat any animal products of any kind.

You were lied to my friend.
