Today I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled; I wasn't knocked out they just numbed the area so I was awake the whole time. I'm 20 and a type 1 diabetic for almost 9 years, and I just started the pump about 3 weeks ago (best decision of my life). After they numbed me, I started freaking out and I could feel my bs drooping fast. Then I actually saw one of the teeth that they pulled and I was so pissed, like I wanted to punch the dentist in the face and I'm not a violent person at all. It was like an emotional rollar coaster. Any other type 1's been through something similar? Any weird stories you want to share, I bet their interesting.

I am type 1 diabetic and also on the pump (a very wise decision). Stress can play havoc on sugar levels just like an illness can. I like you, tend to get very grumpy when I go low. I only got violent once when my sugar dropped. When the ambulance showed up and they got a sugar reading, I was at a 27 (this happened before I was on the pump). After my sugar was back to a normal level, I was speaking with the ambulance personnel, they said it took 4 people to hold me down so they could restrain me. It seems that my body fights when I become extremely low. The bad thing about it though is that I do not remember any of it. That is quite scary. I have been low since and I do get grumpy but I have never been that low again. We are in a weird position with a disease that is very unforgiving. All we can do is observe how it affects us and try not to put ourselves in situations that affect us in a negative way. I know that we can't always do that so we also have to find ways to cope with stress and illness. All in all, I so think that disease makes us stronger people.

I am also a Type 1 on a pump. When my sugar drops I can become very mean and irritable but sometimes I go the other way and become lovey and cuddly. When your sugar is low it affects your brain and other things so that could account for the mood swings.

No, that sounds more like PMS. Stress can raise your sugar, but I've never felt or had anyone comment on any emotional change.
