Steroids usually help if it is asthma, takes a day or two to kick in. If the steroids aren't working it might not be asthma. Doctors only look for the most obvious thing and the quick fix because in 99% of cases it works out ok . You may be in the one %. get another opinion.

I am assuming that your daughter has asthma since she is on steroids? Is she taking nebulizer treatments? (albuterol/xopenex) If she is and she is still wheezing she needs to be seen at the Dr. again ASAP! How old is she? email me, i will be happy to offer any suggestions I can but please call your Dr. It has been 3 days since the start of steroids..they should be working as they are usually only dosed in 5 day prescriptions. proud2btysmom@yahoo.com

Give the steroids a chance to kick in. If on Saturday the cough hasn't lessened, take her back to the doctors.

Have her sit in the bathroom with the shower on as hot as it can go. The steam will help break everything up.

I would call the doctor and speak to him. He may want her to go to the emergency room.

take her back to the doctor if you are not happy, asthma is too serious to fool about with.
