My doctor told me yesterday that if I have had unprotected sex there is a chance I have pelvic inflamatory disease. I looked it up on the internet and found out that you get it as a cause of chlamydia. I have had unprotected sex, yet I have only slept with one person and he only had sex twice (with the same person) before me. Is it possible that I have chlamydia and, therefore, pelvic inflamatory disease?

He used a condom both times her though. That's the mystery.

There are some std's you can get in other ways than sex like HPV and crabs but PID is caused by chlamydia or gonorrhea and you get those from sex. chlamydia is often asymptomatic and you may have never known that you had it and your partner probably did not know either. It is very common though and in many states it is standard to test for it during a normal pelvic exam. Good news very easy to treat go get it fixed it will only get worse!

I think that you can get a lot of different things from having unprotected sex. Pelvic inflammatory disease is just one of them. Pelvic inflammatory disease is a term they use to describe what happens to you when you get diseases. It is about all the scars that you can get inside you.
there are more diseases than people know about, doctors and nurses know but ordinary people don't know. Here is one that I like to let people know about. GPD. That is what it is called It stands for Giant Pustules Disease. What happens is the person gets these huge boils on their genitals as well as on their inner thighs and between their butt crack. These pimples can be as big as four inches across. They are filled with pus and the only way to get them to go away is to go into the doctor and have them POKE them and drain the pus. This is a true story. Never mind the fact that one in five people in the world have genital herpes, and People die from aids and all those other horrible things. Use a condom. But it is best to wait for sex if you can. Condoms don't protect you from everything...GPD for one.
Learn about having a relationship instead of learning about putting out.

I'm taking a chance answering this question.Depending on how long you've had chlamydia, you may have an Oder down there that seems to hang around no matter how much you wash. You can get a blood test but it's hard to detect. If you test neg.get tested again. The longer you wait to find out if you have it the harder it is to treat.

You would need to be tested for chlamydia by a doctor to know, but it is possible

It is possible - if the person you had sex with did (unfortunately, the bad news is it can take only one partner).

STD stands for sexually transmitted disease so I would think you only get them from sex.

Your doctor would know best though - go with what he/she says.

There is always that possibility. It's no death sentence. They will give you antibiotics. And even thought the bf only had sex twice with the same person, how many people has she had sex with????

Well did your doctor test you for this. One thing you must always remember is that if you have unprotected sex with your partner, you will have sex with everyone your partner has had sex with, and everyone they have had sex with and so on. Scary isn't it.
