No, because then you are implying you can get herpes from just simple everyday contact with another person like hugging and hand shaking (which you can't). Calling it the "touching disease" would freak people out even more about the virus. If a person thinks they can get herpes from simply touching a person who has herpes then every person with herpes would be secluded from the world, which is totally unfair.

You almost ALWAYS need some kind of sexual contact in order to spread herpes. So, I think it is perfectly fine being categorized as a STD.
