The virus is the way of getting the cold but going out in the cold with no t-shirt on will lower your immune system which fights off infection so you will be more prone to catch an illness.

If you run around in the snow for long enough with no clothes on you will get hypothermia and die. Unless you encounter a cold virus whilst running you will not get a cold (unless you had already picked up the virus before the running).

Your granma was soooo wrong, you can run about in flimsy t shirts in winter, not wear a vest and leave your coat unzipped, and still not catch a cold. However, if someone with a cold comes really close to tell you to put a coat on, you will!

The cold is a virus and you catch it from people who are infected. Taking Vit C helps improve the immune system and makes your chances of catching it lessen.
My mother still tells me to go out with a coat on and not to go out with wet hair in case i catch cold, you gotta love her.........

You might develop hypothermia-sub normal temperature, that is all. Thing you can catch a cold from the environment itself is Medieval thinking. Going back to witchcraft and evil humours.

A cold is not a virus the two are different. You would catch a bad cold going out in T shirts however you would not catch a virus unless you come into contact with some one who has one.
