Eat plenty of fruit, grains, cereals, beans, and lastly veggies. I was thin before I became vegetarian. I gained weight after becoming a vegetarian. The weight came about a year after becoming a vegetarian. I also found myself with more energy! Meat had been blocking my arteries when I was a meat eater! I didn't become
vegetarian for health reasons though.. it was for cost reasons.. I went into a store in 1980 and a pkg of Mary Miles brand Weiners was $2.49. At that point I decided I'll become a vegetarian!
I remain a vegetarian today cause I found it healthier for me! There's many books on Vegetarianism in most Libraries and book stores too!

you are just not eating right, it has nothing to do with a vegetarian diet. not eating meat, doesn't mean you have to lose all of this weight. miami dolphin rickie williams is a vegetarian and he's a beat. so is heisman trophy winner desmond howard. there are millions of healthy regular weight vegetarians out there. talk to a nutritionist or go to peta.org for links to good vegetarian balanced diet ideas. or take a nutrition class at a local community college. it's a few hours a week, you'll learn a ton and it would only cost a few hundred bucks for a lifetime of knowledge.

This might get some thumbs-down for not being quite so healthful, but I'm of the opinion that butter and cream and 'classical French' cooking -- the meat-free/modified parts thereof, anyway -- have a place in vegetarian cuisine.
Start having crepes for breakfast, and you'll be sure to see a change in the scale...
But, how tall are you? If you're healthy at a low weight, throw the damn scale out.

Ok, well i lost weight too when i became a vegy, which is quite dangerous as i am quite slim too and only 14.
However, i soon put it back on after xmas!!!
There are so many thing you can eat to gain weight, even if you dont like sweet food. However if you dont gain weight then it shows that your body needs all that food you are consuming, so gradually increase it!
You can eat anything-eggs, chocloate, pasta, high carbs, jacket potatoes. Eat more dairy that way you get more fat into your diet.
Well sorry i asnt more help...good luck!

Not eating meat should not equate to quick weight loss (unless your previous idea of "meat" was a Big Mac)...you are probably not eating enough, period. More pasta, whole grains (for Iron, protein) will stop weight loss if that is your goal. You also might try some peanut butter.

I was about your weight when I became a vegetarian and a year later I still am. Just make sure that you watch your protein intake other than that you'll stay the same.
Have a look at this site for more info. http://www.vrg.org/index.htm
Congrats on your new lifestyle change!

Hmm..Protein shakes?
Veggie pizza would work.
I know cookies aren't that healthy but have your mom (or you) make some oatmeal cookies with raisins and walnuts to snack on. Just follow the recipe on the back of the Quaker oatmeal box. They're delish.
Oh! and trail mix!
I tend to gain weight if I eat too much whole wheat toast with peanut butter so that might be a good idea for you. :o)

My son also has a very high metabolism and being vegan he eats very healthy ..very little junk food so to speak..and to maintain his weight he eats frequently and drinks soy protein shakes..drinks juice instead of water ......he tries to eat higher calorie foods and works out daily for maybe 1/2 to 1 hour with weights...he is still slim but not skinny or scrawny looking at all...just keep at it and it a little while you will see results..good luck

eat potatoes and beans, for protein and fiber. A twice baked potato is awesome! Bake a potato, cut in half, scoop out most of the inside, leaving a bit of a shell, mash with butter, cheese (made with vegetarian rennet, not animal), beans, and onion (beans are optional, can use lentils too) put back in the shell and bake until the cheese melts. Delish!
