Im making brown rice and some assorted fried veggies (yellow and green string beans, corn, water chestnut, carrots, brocolli and red bell peppers). Except when I fry veggies I never use any oil and they turn out fine.

Is it bad that I always cook frozen veggies and even fresh veggies in a pan without oil? Is oil good for you?

And also, which would be better to put on top.. A little bit of lite soya sauce (32% sodium) or a little plum sauce (2% sodium) ?

I cook fresh veggie and rice stir fry without oil too. As long as you are getting healthy oils and fats from other sources, no problem. Olive oil is healthy, but high in calories-over 1200 calories in one cup. The less sodium plum sauce would be the best-too much sodium dehydrates you

Like other's have stated, SOME oil is good for you. Especially, olive oil. It contains heart healthy fats. A little goes a long way too. If you are really concerned with the oil, you can buy the olive oil in a spray can now so you actually use less, but still get the great flavor.

Frozen vege's are always a good choice since most are now flash frozen as soon as they are picked. My the husband and I regularly steam frozen vege's with water in a frying pan then add salt and pepper or other seasonings for flavor.

The soya is good even though it's fairly high in sodium while the plum sauce is a good and sweet. Also, you can try a bit of teriyaki sauce for a sweet BBQ flavor as well.

Well, other people pretty much covered the whole oil thing, so I'll just talk about the soya sauce.

While sodium in large amounts isn't good for you, the body does still need some. After I went vegan, I was getting hardly any sodium in my diet. I've never been a huge salt person. I started to get headaches a lot, and I found out it was because I wasn't getting enough sodium. I upped my intake, mostly by just using soya sauce on Chinese food, and the headaches went away. I'd say use soya sauce if you don't normally eat very salty foods. Problems with sodium stem from people overdoing it. Moderation is the key.

You are doing right. It's best to stir fry veggies, either fresh or frozen, is in water with a little seasoning.

When oil hits a certain temp anything going in it becomes a carcinogen.

It's better to eat your oil raw. Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil is so loaded in good things you can drink it right out of the bottle!!! Put it on salad. Dunk bread in it. Add some to hummus.

I say vary what you put on top by day. Also try Tamari, Bragg's Liquid Aminos, Nutritional Yeast (tastes like very mild cheddar), Miso Mayo - Yum Yum!

A little olive oil for frying would be fine, but what you are doing is good too. It sounds like you are on top of healthy eating. I would stay with the lowest sodium possible. I would try lemon zest for flavoring instead of salt for a change.

It's not bad NOT to use oil. People grill veggies all the time, and it's not bad for them. It's also not bad to drizzle them with olive oil. Yes...it's an oil but it's a healthy oil. One of our favorite side dishes is fresh asparagus either grilled (in summer) or pan fried (in winter) with garlic cloves in olive oil. YUM!

Sure. Add some tofu to round out the protein. I would add oil just to make it tastier but that's just me.
The plum sauce is healthier...but personally I prefer nice salty soy sauce and I'm not dead yet.

Your food contains corn for energy. beans for bodybuilding and carrots for body protection so it is balanced. Adding oil will be extra energy. However too much oil is not good for the body.
Low salt intake is good for thr body hence the plum sauce will be better.
