You are preparing to administer 15,000 units of heparin subcutaneously. The patient's lab report shows his PTT was 40 seconds. His last heparin injection was administered subcutaneously 12 hours ago. What actions should you take?

If this question is posed from a nursing angle then I would say do not give the injection...get the dosage checked and confirmed first with a senior nurse or doctor.

I don't know where you're writing from, but this isn't a good question. That kind of heparin dose is usually given IV, not SubQ.

call the doctor and report the lab values and see what they want to do
