You eat fish, right?
:)
Most of the other cliche questions just make the asker look stupid. E.g. "If we're not supposed to eat animals then why are they made out of MEAT?"
This one makes vegetarians look stupid because so many people are running around eating dead animals and calling themselves veg.

There are a few:
1. Can vegetarians eat chicken? (This one is very common here at Yahoo Answers)
2. Why don't you eat meat? It tastes soooo good!
3. Thanks for not eating meat. There's more left for us to eat.
4. Can vegetarians eat animal crackers? (I'm sick of such a stupid question)
5. Why are you a vegetarian? Plants are alive too, and scientific studies demonstrated that they feel pain!
6. Won't you get sick for not eating meat? We need protein!
7. Why are you a vegetarian? If God created animals is because we need to eat them!

Yeah that's annoying.
I also hate the 1 about 'How can you be healthy as a vegan? We need nutrients from meat!'
Loads more:
'What's the difference between a vegetarian and a vegan?'
'So does that mean you can still eat fish/seafood?'
'Don't you feel jealous when you see us eating meat?'
'Are your bones and teeth really fragile since you don't drink milk?'
'You look normal-I thought without meat and milk and stuff you'd be pale and sick looking?'
These two are annoying as I have to spend half an hr educating them-'Why don't you eat meat?' 'Why are you a vegan, why not just be vegetarian?'
Uninformed prats lol.
What I REALLY hate is this statement though: 'Oh I love animals so I don't let myself think about where meat comes from.'

I HATE it when someone asks me (while pulling a slightly irritated face) why I'm vegan, then when I tell them (without any gory details I might add) they start to argue about it, as though it's going to change my mind. When it eventually moves to raised voices (which I must shamefully admit is quite often) I just sound like another raving vegan nut going off on one about the horrors of animal products.
I also hate the 'where do you get protein' question. Who was responsible for brainwashing the entire western world into thinking that animals were the only source of protein?

I think the most annoying thing isn't really a question. Its a comment I get alot whenever I'm sick. "Its probably because you're vegan." I always find that funny considering I'm rarely ever sick.
I've taken to telling everyone else "Its probably because you eat meat." whenever they get sick. Of course I explain it and we usually both get a laugh out of it, but at least they understand how it feels to be on the otherside of that comment.
Now, some people will say thats why people hate us veggies. The problem is that I wasn't always like this. But over time, I've gotten tired of people that have known me for years and never realized I was vegan, complaining that I'm shoving my views down their throats. Don't be fooled into thinking that we're the irritating ones.

I think it is funny when people ask if you eat fish!!! Now as far as i am aware, and correct me if i am wrong, fish are living breathing creatures just like cows pigs etc.
I don't know how many times i have been offered a fish dish if i have been struggling with a menu.
That and having to explain why vegetarians won't eat particular kinds of cheese, that wears me down!

Of course I dislike the really stupid ones, and what makes them worse... is that they are all asked daily.
"Do vegetarians eat animal crackers?"
etc.
Oh, and the best ones, are the semi-serious ones that are repeated... "what is the difference between vegan and vegetarian, I need a recipe,"
I mean, seriously... can't you search in the discover section?
I know that's where I go when I need a new recipe site link!

This really annoys me when some one asks you if you want something to eat like say chicken curry or something and you say no im a vegetarian and it has chicken in it!! and they say, well i could poke the chicken out if you want, or theres only a wee bit of chicken in it.!! Not what a veggie wants to hear that drives me mad!!

In general, I'm ok with honest questions. The "what do you eat" question is legitmate in many situations. They are just plain curious how it works. I consider it a duty to explain patiently without judgement why I made that choice. You gotta represent!
The questions that are problematic are those that pretty much already have the answer, and an insult to go with built in. Like one of those hecklers who asked if being intolerant was a result of being vegetarian. That's just trying to start a fight.

I don't mind if someone is genuinely interested to know about the principle behind my life choices, but if they're just gonna tell me that "we're meant to eat meat - if cavemen didn't eat meat we wouldn't be here - it's in our human nature"
I SO resent being compared to a caveman don't you?! - Yes, once upon a time we needed meat to survive - WE DON'T TODAY!! I am one of the healthiest people I know and I don't eat meat - "Human nature" is not something I would go by; we are now rational people and if we could do something just because it was human nature i bet there'd be fighting and murder and rape being seen as perfectly normal; Oh I had to spread my seed to pass on my genes - she said no but it was human nature! For f*cks sake some people are so ignorant. And they don't mean it; they know they don't *need* meat, they just say it to justify their liking of killing and eating animals.
However, it also annoys me when fellow vegetarians lecture others whenever they eat meat; It annoys me when people question my choices because it is just that; MY CHOICE about MY life. It bugs me when vegetarians moan about being lectured for their life-choices, and then go and do the same to people who just want to eat their lunch in peace...
In all, we all should have the right to choose whether we want to be ethical about our food-choices or not (and discussion is fine but) we shouldn't have tp justify that, to anybody.
