Taxus Stents...Does anyone have one or know anybody that does?

My aunt received one last week and she is having a lot of complications. Complains of a sharp needle like pain stabbing her and she's very tired all the time. I can't really find anything on the net, so I was wondering about people that have had them or know someone that has. Please help!!!

After a stent has been deployed you would expect a little twinge of discomfort often associated with changing position or rolling over. These twinges are never sharp and terribly painful. Therefore a sharp needle-like pain is very much unexpected. You didn't mention what brings it on, how long it last, the exact position...and that's okay, but have your aunt pay attention to the details so that she can respond to the questions her health provider will be asking.

Generally after a stent has been deployed the patient is limited in lifting for a week (allow the groin to heal), but other wise can resume normal activities.

As far a being tired....is she on any new medications? Like Toprol? In some people it can make them feel profoundly tired.

Regardless, you should be going back to the cardiology group that deployed the stent. Complications while rare, do happen. Call the cardiology group today and try to get seen within the next couple days (most groups leave opening exactly for this sort of reason).

By the way, if she is having heaviness and/or shortness of breath associated with activity (not movement - I mean doing things, like walking) then skip the office call and proceed to the ED for further evalution. Good luck.

Only my 2 children...till they are 18. I deliver them a specific quantity of freedom, however now not an excessive amount of. They're nonetheless little. I allow them to be themselves, however I do not allow them to be disrespectful or harmful. And I pay the fees and purchase the garments in order that they put on wth I inform them to.
