Hi there,

There still is no cure for the HIV virus. However; if a person has been exposed to hiv and they are able to get to their doctor or a hospital within 72 hours, doctors can put you on PEP treatment. Basically it's one of the anti-hiv drugs, often Combivir, given for a period of 3 weeks. Whether PEP has "cured" the person or not is not known as doctors are not able to tell if the person had been infected or not. The only way to tell if a person has been infected is through blood tests for the antibodies to hiv but they take time to develop and it's much longer than 72 hours. Hiv is not an easy virus to catch; for research it is more common to catch hiv with repeated exposures though it only takes one. So, PEP has not been proven to cure or prevent hiv infection; whether it is effective or simply an ease of mind due to an exposure scare is still debatable.

Cheers.

many times no longer. As I extremely have worked with those that have examined HIV+ some seem to undergo in concepts flu like indicators "around" the time they grew to grow to be contaminated. i might advise a HIV try asap and then as quickly as a month for the subsequent 3 months while you're worried. The window era for HIV to look is ninety days (3 months) it is going to many times teach ninety% of the time after 30 days, ninety 4-ninety six after 60 days and ninety 9.6% after ninety days. people might nicely be contaminated with HIV and not have any signs and indicators for 10-12 years. So a each year try is likewise recomended.
