yes you can. the insulin pump should have no bearing on your reproductive ability. and if you are pregnant, insulin doesn't cross the placental barrier. make sure you read up and learn the nutritional needs and changes that your body will undergo while being a pregnant diabetic. good luck

Yes. In fact, the pump can help you get the best control possible, which is GOOD if you want children.

Each person is individual, so work with your doctor. The outcome of your pregnancy will depend on:

-Your general health (your age, how long you have had diabetes, if you have any damage from diabetes, other medical conditions, etc.)

-Your level of control BEFORE and during the pregnancy. Plan your pregnancy and have a complete check up first. You want to have your A1c as close to normal as possible BEFORE you become pregnant. That is 6.5 or less if you can *safely* acheive this. Remember, the lower your A1c, the lower your risks to the baby. BUT your risk of low blood sugar may increase. Work with your doctor on this.

-Having regular check-ups including sonograms to check for defects in the baby, and having a helpful and supportive medical team experienced with Type 1 pregnancies.

Remember to take at least 5mg of Folic Acid daily (this is a Rx amount prescribed by your doctor). This has been shown to reduce neural tube birth defects in the babies of diabetic mothers.

Plan your pregnancy, work hard, and you should be fine!

Good luck!

Yes, babies are still possible. Having the pump should even make it easier to control your insulin levels during pregnancy...good luck.
