I think the best thing is to pick a theme, and make it as easy as possible. Don't make a huge number of different types of appetizers, rather make really good appetizers and perhaps different types of dips. And don't be afraid to take help from the supermarket.

For example, you could have a carribean theme party. For food you can make:

1. Chicken and chorizo skewers with curry cream dip and mustard dip
2. Coconut shrimp with the dip they give you in the box (frozen, yet yummy)
3. Chips and traditional salsa and fruit salsa
4. Cheese Empandas (you can buy these frozen, but are better made fresh)
5. A fruit tray with yogurt and chocolate dip (grilled is delicious, but a bit time consuming)
6. Virgin pina coladas and bahama mamas

It's really easy to decorate for this, you can pick a central color theme with minor carribean detials or go over the top. If you have white christmas lights or can get some string them up around whatever rooms you are using for mood lighting, and definitely get some incense. You could also get those cheap plastic beads to separate some of the rooms. Another great idea is to get small beta fish bowls and beta fish, this serves double detail. You can use them as decoration, then as favors. Most fish stores will give you bags for the fish to go home with your guests.

For food presentation you can get cheap plastic trays from any dollar store, fill them with sand, shells, etc, and then put your serving dishes in there. If you really have a lot of energy you can use the shells of pineapple and coconut to serve your dips in. You could also get that green foam from the craft store and glue sand to it. Then you can keep place your skewers in them so they stand up straight. One thing not to forget is to have somewhere for the guests to put the skewers, toothpicks, cups that have been used.

You can play raggae and salsa music. Make a mixed CD of music that people know well and some that people don't know so well. Make it about 25 songs and have it loop, that way by the end of the evening all of the songs will be familiar to your guests and they will be more likely do dance or at least sing along.

Hope this helps. If you need recipes for any of these things hit me back and I will give them to you.

For video games, you could consistently play charades, with a concentration on eire for the clues to be acted out. in addition, you ought to create a pictionary-like sport the place people draw Ireand appropriate issues, finding on the gang this could be exciting- take the refrain to an previous Irish eating track, and all people writes a verse a pair of nicely-regularly happening lush (Lindsey Lohan, Ted Kennedy, Betty Ford, Elvis etc.)

Make up some "mock" margaritas by purchasing the margarita mix and blending it with ice. Serve in margarita glasses dipped in salt. Or, you can make "mock' cosmopolitans by mixing sweet and sour mix with a little cranberry juice, and a squeeze of orange juice. Shake the mixture over ice and pour into martini glasses. Garnish with a slice of orange.

For food, you're looking at appetizers mostly and here are some of my favorites:

1. Mini cocktail weiners baked in cresant rolls and served
with sweet hot mustard and ketchup.
2. Celery and carrot stix with ranch dressing
3. Fruit kabobs: strawberries, pineapple chunks, and bananas (soak them in pineapple juice first) and a vanilla sourcream dipping sauce (take sour cream, add brown sugar and vanilla)
4. Smithfield ham slices smeared with garlic and chive cream cheese and rolled up and secured with toothpicks.
5. Chips and Salsa
6. Hot Artichoke Dip with tortilla chips or crackers
7. Teriyaki wings (or buffalo wings if you prefer)
8. Brownie bites, mini cupcakes, and cookies
