Well you need puppy proof food so don't lay out the food on a picnic cloth on the ground.

I recommend already fried chicken. Its always great cold.

Biscuits are always great with chicken.

Watermelon is a great dessert too for picnics.

And dont forget a good pasta salad:

Small dice some celery onions and tomatoes and bell peppers. Use some bow tie or rotini pasta that you already cooked. Add Italian dressing and your good to go.
If u like it a lil more Zesty add some lime or lemon juice (not much roughly a tablespoon) a touch of sugar (maybe a tablespoon) and some garlic a clove or two.

I like to actually grate garlic on the small grater side so its more of a mush when its done being grated. This allows it to be incorporated with the salad evenly.

You can't go wrong with sandwiches and fruit/veggies. Maybe some potato salad .

If you are looking for hot food, chicken is always good with maybe mac and cheese with rolls. Maybe some strawberries and champagne.

Oh Yum! I love picnics!!! Lucky you!!!
I remember as a child, my mom would pack up fried chicken(nice & crisp & juicy). We had homemade potato salad or coleslaw, bread & butter pickles, a fresh jug of sweet iced tea, some chips and a fresh apple or cherry pie or summers first watermelon. Course we could never eat it all, but it sure was good.
She also packed some bread or cheese balls to feed to the ducks, squirrels & fish. So much fun on a lazy day at the lake or park.
Sometimes on school on picnics, we all brought a sack lunch & it was just as much fun eating outside in the spring.
Building good memories is nice. Enjoy!!!

Make a batch of pasta salad...you can eat it for lunch or as a side dish. Boil tri-colored rotini according to package directions. Rinse in cold water. Meanwhile, coarsely chop a small onion, a small green pepper, a small red or yellow pepper, a small cucumber, and a stick of pepperoni (from the deli). Halve a pint of cherry tomatoes. Toss this all into the pasta and crumble some fontinella cheese in there. You can either toss it all with some store-bought italian dressing, or make your own from olive oil and balsamic vinegar. If you're using olive oil & vinegar, sprinkle the salad with salt, pepper, and some oregano or thyme. I also like to sprinkle some parmesan on it. It's YUMMY. If you like shredded carrots and black olives, you can add those too. Leftovers can always be had for lunch.

I have always loved a good picinic and am glad to see others still do. I have always felt good about fired chicken, corn on the cob, some kind of salad or two, and rolls or biscuits. However sandwiches, chips and soup from a thermos is a classic. Eat what you like and have fun on your picinic. Don't forget the ice tea, lemonade, apple pie or spice cake.

wraps. some people do like ham and cheese wraps, while others do veggie wraps. (they can just be rolled witha toothpic) you can go traditional and do some sort of salad (egg, potato, macaronie, regular) everyone loves sandwiches and deviled eggs. Drinks are also very important to bring, too
