Obviously follow the advice that your physician gives but the common wisdom is to start an exercise program and eat a low fat diet. Low in saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol. A person who has had a stent placed needs to be cleared by their physician before starting to exercise. Very important! Some research has shown that a stent may only be a temp fix and the artery can get clogged again. So a lifestyle change toward being more healthy is absolutely imperitive to give yourself the best chance to avoid a more serious problem.

If a patient has had enough problems with their cardiovascular system to have an arterial stent put in, this means that this patient does in fact need to think about positive lifestyle changes. This is because surgery for putting a stent in was the only way to fix this problem, it got SO bad so they HAD to put a stent in. If I may use an analogy, a stent is like a tiny band-aid, it won't address the bigger underlying problem of the person having chronic cardiovascular problems. Diet and exercise are definitely key things to having a healthier heart. Did the doctor say anything?

Absolutely!

The process of Cardiovascular disease is progressive and is rarely stopped, just slowed.

A seriously strict diet and doctor approved exercise program is essential, or the next stent will probably be needed much sooner than necessary.
