Low blood sugar is not uncommon, and not as dangerous as your friends (that's who you mean by people, right?) say it is.
It's also called hypoglycemia. The way to keep your blood sugar from getting too low, which may have been a fluke when you had the test done and not a permanent condition, is to eat approx. six small meals over the course of the day. Another important thing is to eat some protein whenever you eat anything sweetened with sugar or honey or corn syrup or fruit juice. That means something like peanut butter, yogurt, etc. Your doctor will give you more detailed info if it turns out that you need to be on a diet like this

Good answer Nette. To add to it a little. Simple sugars get your levels up quickly and without the side effects of complex sugars but follow it up with some protein to help even out and maintain your levels over a longer period of time. i.e. if you drink some OJ for a fast boost then eat a couple crackers with peanut butter shortly after.
Of course this is all fine and well but remember that one incidence of hypoglycemia is not a sure thing that you have sugar or diabetic problems. Try and relax till you get more tests done. Stress only makes things worse and don't make any big changes in your diet or habits unless your doctor tells you to. Good luck!

It's great that you are taking your health seriously at such a young age and by doing so, you probably will have nothing to worry about. I am sure your Mom and doctor are watching out for you. However, good nutrition is a BIG part of staying healthy and the food we eat every day just doesn't give us the nutrition that we need. Many young people (even younger than you) are starting to take food supplements that are manufactured by a company called "Reliv". The Reliv products have been helping lots of people (young and not so young) with health issues relating to blood sugar levels. Look this company up on the internet "Reliv.com" and if you or your Mom would like more information, my email is "candylisto@yahoo.com" I would love to connect you to others who have been taking these products and let them share how the Reliv products have helped them. Stay concerned and take your health seriously and you won't have anything to worry about. Contact me if you have any other questions.

I'm diabetic, My dietition recommends when sugar is too low to have some carb, preferrably orange juice because that raises sugar fast., and then protein (like cheese or peanut butter). The protein will help to keep sugar stable. you'll avoid the fast drop in sugar that way. Ask a dietitien what is best for you. The o.j. works best if you can get it. But it's a good idea to carry glucose pills in case of emergency. You can find them at any pharmacy.

Your blood sugar (just like blood pressure) have a *range* of values, and go up and down like a wave pattern throughout the day. For example, when you eat a meal, your sugar goes up. When you're hungry for a while, blood sugar goes down. Since you are only 13 years old, it's possible that your diet and hormones may have caused a slight low blood sugar at the time of the test. It's not life threatening, and your doctor seems to be okay (not alarmed) with it. Make sure you eat your meals on time if you can, to keep your blood sugar on its normal pattern of up and down.

I found out when I was 13 too, it was scary because I found out because I passed out one day. Now I can tell when it's getting low. I will start shaking and get gittery. You have to becareful with the sugar you eat. You may think that because you're sugar is low then you need sugar but that's not how it works. With us when we eat sugar ours go up like everyone elses but instead of it dropping gradually ours drops very fast - the more sugar you eat the faster and lower it falls. So stay away from cokes and any drinks with sugar. They will make you feel so bad. If you feel your sugar is getting low you need to eat something that will bring it up gradually without causing it to fall fast. Like fruit, they have sugar but it's natural sugars. Also crackers. I keep them with me. The things that make mine drop the most is coke, orange juice and candy. You have to pretty much follow the same diet as a diabetic. It's best to eat several small meals a day to keep your sugar up. Good luck!

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

My answer is in response to those who think hypoglycemia cannot cause death.
It can be fatal if a person passes out from their sugar being too low. Often people have passed out & are alone, unconscious, non-responsive...they have no way to get simple sugars quickly. This is a serious concern.
Walmart even provides glucose tablets to carry with you.
