A vegetarian is someone who does not eat animal flesh of any kind (including fish and other sea creatures) A vegetarian may still eat eggs and dairy, they may also buy other animal products like leather, wool etc
A vegan is someone who will not eat animal flesh or anything else that came from an animal like dairy, eggs etc. They will not buy any animal products like leather or wool.
The vegan clothing store would sell stuff that is free of leather, wool, feathers and stuff like that. You mean vegan Easter eggs right? That would mean chocolate eggs that are free of dairy products.

Most people have given you good responses ..so you understand all vegans are vegetarians but not all vegetarians are vegan....vegan are vegetarians that have gone one step further..they eat nothing that comes from animals..wear nothing that comes from animals, use no products from animals or tested on animals..you could say it is the most extreme of vegetarians....but most people start as vegetarians except those they were raised that way...vegan clothing is all leather free , wool free , and can be cottons, rayon's, or synthetics to name a few....people who make the choice to become vegetarian give up eating animals and ask for nothing in return ..many meat eaters will try to defend a position that has no factual backing in health or anything else...google famous vegetarians and even actors/actresses it will surprise you...I hope you are thinking about it ...animals need protecting since they can not speak...PS ..vegetarian eggs are eggs that come from chickens fed a vegetarian diet...

Vegetarians usually eat that way for their health or religious reasons whereas vegans it seems are concerned about not harming or using anything from the animal kingdom. Vegans then wouldn't eat honey or wear leather, so that's why they have shops where you can buy rubber and canvas shoes etc. Vegan eggs you're having me on. Organic grain fed open range etc eggs for the ovo or usually lacto-ovo vegetarians that have milk and eggs, yes. You can find beef produced like this also. There are pecto-vegetarians that eat fish and some who simply exclude red meat. In the Bible you'll find the strongman Samson was recommended a vegetarian diet which excluded grapes and "unclean" meats such as pork are also classified here

There many kinds of vegetarians and each and each have what maximum folk omnivores might seen exceptions. working example, the vegetarianism as practiced in Japan enables the intake of fish and eggs besides as diary products. In some sects of Buddhism, there are allowance for people who're bodily ill to eat animal protein. A vegan is somebody who extremely do no longer eat something produced from animals and no exceptions are made. which ability no cheese, milk, butter, eggs, gelatin, meat, fish, shellfish, etc.

Vegetarianism has become more about only the diet and has grown to include dairy, eggs, and even for some fish (pescatarians)
Veganism is a way of life that seeks to not exploit animals in any way. Vegans don't have to like animals, they just respect that we share a planet with other sentient beings that have as much of a right to live as any of us. Vegans don't eat dairy or egg, and don't wear or use animal products because these things require the senseless use of other living beings for profit/pleasure/convienence.

There are lots of different kinds or levels of vegetarians.
Lacto ovo vegetarians (your common veggie who will just say vegetarian!) Don't eat meat but, have no problems with eggs or milk. A vegan (like me!) Won't eat ANY animal products. Which means no meat, fish, poultry, eggs, dairy or (and these ones might surprise you!) jello, marshmellows, capsles which are all usually made from animal bones or protiens. We also don't wear fur (of corse!) or even wool because, not all animals are treated kindly when raised for sheering. There are also fruitarians! They as I understand it only eat fruits and veggies that have their seeds inside them. They only eat produce that has fallen from its tree or vien on it's on as well.
Raw foods vegans eat little else then veggies and lentils I believe. Hope this helps!

Never heard about vegan eggs. Vegan means somebody who chooses to not ingest any food items that are from any animal. Meaning, eggs, milk, and meats, fish, etc. They won't even eat some candies....such as Starburst, which are made with fats of animals. Vegetarians, will eat eggs, cheese, milk, and some will even eat fish. Just no meat.

Vegetarians don't eat any meat. & Vegans don't eat/wear/or do anything that has the slightes bit of involvement with an animal. (wool clothing, gator boots, milk, eggs, leather, fur coats). well, you get the point:)

Most of the differences have correctly been noted above. However, the answers thus far have not noted the biggest difference between most vegetarains and most vegans.
Vegans, as a rule are very uptight, arrogant, and believe that they are somehow more enlightened than the rest of us. Vegans generally believe that what they think is an absolute and believe the convictions of others are entriely without merit if those convictions are other than what the vegan believes.
Other than that, Vegans are just peachy, a real barrel of laughs, the life of the party so to speak.
Vegetarians, on the other hand, don't tend to be so uptight about things. However, veggies as a whole are a little more tightly wound than the population in general.
Please note that I said "most" vegans, not all.
