Ugh! Father Mapple from Moby ****? They made a syrup out of him? Ugh!

I have been known to partake in vermont *Maple* syrup, however.

tee-hee. I think I just came up with a new food name for Trader Joe's! Father Mapple's Syrup. Or is that too esoteric? I crack myself up.

In Canada in the spring we harvest millions of maple sap which is boiled down to make maple syrup. It is wonderful in many recipes instead of sugar and it is great on pancakes.AS kids we used to drink the sap which tasted like weak sugar water. But the finished maple syrup is the best.

It depends on the manufacturer. Some companies use pork fat to reduce foaming during the syrup making process!
