It varies from doctor to doctor. When I was diagnosed, my sugar was around 500. Most doctors agree that a blood sugar level between 70 and 120 is normal. With being diabetic, some doctors keep those numbers and others give different target ranges. My range happens to be 100 to 150. I have an insulin pump and it is easy to keep in the given range. 99 percent of the time I am in my range. My readings are usually around 110. The best bet is to talk with your doctor to see what is the best for you.

Normal is 80-120 (some books say 90-110)
126 is considered the point at which a diagnosis of diabetes should be considered... if you get a reading higher than 126, repeat the test a couple more times over the next couple weeks to see if it is consistently high...
This is really simplified, but a good starting point...

There are two units of measurement in use: mmol/L, for which the range sought is 4.0 - 7.0 & is used in the UK Europe Canada Australia & most other countries. mg/dL is used in the US & the range sought is, I believe, 80 - 140.
In diabetes, if uncontrolled, there are no limits to how high or low you can go. My own worst ever "scores" are 0.4 & 52. Fortunately I was in hospital on both occasions.

70-115.... lower than 70 is hypoglycemic and higher than 115 is hyperglycemic. but every one will tell you different things. but thats about the normal range.. some people's can get up to 200 before they feel anything.
