There are many numbers in a thyroid test such as
TSH
T3 uptake
total t3
t4
It would help if you posted which one of these you are referring to.
If it is the TSH number, that is within normal range, however, many people with under active thyroids feel better with a tsh closer to 1.0
A good indication of thyroid health is how you are feeling.
Do you feel OK?

It's below the normal range of 0.3 to 3.0, but is it normal....maybe.....maybe not. Many doctors feel a TSH over 2.0 is not normal. Are you having symptoms? Also, was this an afternoon or a morning test? TSH needs to always be done first thing in the mornng, for an afternoon test the result will be lower. My very first tsh came back at 2.6 and I really believed I was hypothyroid. I was told there was no thyroid problem, but 8 months later the TSH was run again and it was 6.8. If you believe you have a problem, retest agan in the morning and ask the doctor to also run a free t4, free t3, and an antibody test. With it over 2.0, there are signs your thyroid is slowing down the production of hormone

Some thyroid disorders can be cured, but many require lifetime treatment. Learn here https://tr.im/9gjRP
For example, sometimes early stage thyroid cancer can be cured by surgery to remove the thyroid gland, but you will need to take thyroid hormone medication afterwards for the rest of your life. Goiters can also be surgically removed and do not always recur after surgery. In most cases, thyroid disorders need treatment over a lifetime. However, with treatment most people with thyroid disorders can live normal, healthy lives.

I assume your test was TSH. Normal range is now consider 0.3 to 3.0. A high value would hypothyroidism. Most people have a TSH closer to one.
So your TSH is high average but normal and the same time.

If you have symptoms of hypothyroidism like weight gain and fatigue, I would have your thyroid monitor regularly.
