well most people who have asthma also have allergies, mine started as allergies, then turned into asthma..congestion can be caused by the allergies, or post nasal drip..I had a sinus infection 3 weeks ago, and I still have the cough and the drip and congestion..I would look into some allergie meds, I'm sure they would help with the stuffy nose and congestion...and the difficulty breathing.

In most cases, asthma is an allergy. Most with asthma have allergies as well. Some with allergies have asthma. Stuffy noses can be controlled by allergy pills/sprays. Loratadine (brand name Clariton or Alervert) is good for allergies. As well as benadryll. Nasalcrom is a good long term nose spray for allergies. Afrin is a good "rescue" medication for fast relief however DO NOT USE AFRIN FOR MORE THEN 72 hours. You can become dependent on it.

Try some over the counter medications and if they don't work, see a doctor.

have you been tested for allergies? It was standard operating procedure when I was young with asthma to be allergy tested. But it you haven't been, suggest you do so, there is often an allergy component to asthma.
