Well actually Nurse Practitioners and Physicians Assitants can prescribe medicine. Both are positions that are kind of like having a masters degree instead of a doctorate. Don't get P.A.'s confused with medical assitants. They are completely different. One has 12 months of school, the other has 7 years of school.

The answer to your question is no.
But then there's a bunch of bad information in other answers you got.
MDs are not the only doctors who can prescribe. Osteopaths, dentists, oral surgeons and in some places even chiropractors can prescribe medicines. Physician assistants and nurse practitioners can prescribe medicines. There are even PhDs in pharmacology who work in drug treatment and pain management centers who can prescribe medicines in some states. The state gives the practitioner the license and can regulate a lot of the drug prescribing capacity, but the federal government can also do that. That's why there are medics in the military who have standing orders for drugs to be given even before a soldier has been injured.

A therapist, no matter how high the rank, can prescribe medication. Only a medical doctor can do that. A psychiatrist is able to prescribe meds because they are a medical doctor who actually specializes in mental health medications

No. Only a MD can prescribe medications. Medical doctors. Psychiatrists. Not psychologists or certified therapists. Must be a MD.
