Am i affected because i was drowned a few days ago? I think this illness came back to me again a day after the drowning incident.
I used to have such illness a year ago, but it just get better after i got the inhaler. How can i describe my situation to the doctor that its not asthma?

How do i get rid of this illness as it had been bothering me for the past 3days and i feel like im dying soon. :(

PS: I am only 16 and i don't smoke or take drug.

I have suffered from anxiety and panic attacks. The best way to deal with them is try to identify the source of stress and eliminate it. Also, sometimes relaxing is harder to do than you think, so sometimes a brisk walk helps best. Any form of physical excercise. In the meantime, if you have suffered a traumatic event, talk to your doctor, he may prescribe xanex, but only use this short term, because it is addicting. Also, many say it only causes them to be sleepy, but still anxious. I find that listening to talk radio or having someone talk or read to you during your panic attacks helps greatly. Takes away that "alone" feeling. Tell the talker not to expect a response from you. Trying to converse can bring up the anxiety instead of allowing you to relax in the monotone conversation the other person is providing. Have someone you can call 24/7 because panic often occurs at night. Good luck to you.

Well, most paniac attacks are caused by a number of things, (which the number one thing is stress or anixety) these are the bodys way of coping with the pressure put on certain organs, and small shallow breathes are what trigger these attacks, causing more blood to pump through the body, and the body begins to take back control, the breathes tend to get deeper and more relaxed, causing the attack the fade its self out. (in other words breathe in a paper bag do breathing exercises daily to help cope with this disorder.

Speak with an MD, or R.N., or somebody qualified to advise you, P.S.....do not think "you are some kind of a nut"..lots of people have experienced such events and I'm sure you will overcome this problem. I have heard patients say that speaking out loud to themselves statements such as "I AM OK...I AM IN CONTROL AND NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO ME" could help.

My heart goes out to you , I left a great career form the same reason , Seeking professional help only tends to drag one into a deep depression , or becomes very analytical , read a book by p.j. Salinger called looking out for # 1 , It changed my life , hope it helps you also . After all is said and done i came to understand that all ones answers later in life are in ones own mind . good luck.

You are NOT going to die! You are just scared! Go to a shrink. Not only mentally ill people go to the shrink! It doesn't mean you are mad or something like this. If you had it an year ago it means that the shock has reactivated. Thanks God u are alive! I don't think a normal doctor could help you, and as far as I know it's better to let your body and heart cure themselves, which they always do one day or another. You will be very fine, trust me!

You may need to temporarily be prescribed an anti-anxiety med...like lorazepam. Doing yoga and learning how to deep breathe and relax has been the most helpful.

you may be suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, and you may want to talk to a therapist about EMDR treatment to alleviate your reaction to such a traumatic event.
