This is not an uncommon occurence after a weekend of heavy drinking. Alcohol CAN cause withdrawals as many people have already stated, but unless you are a chronic drinker, a couple of days of binging is highly unlikely to lead to withdrawal or DTs.
However, alcohol CAN precipitate an abnormal rhythm called ATRIAL FIBRILLATION that can cause your heart to go fast for periods of time, and this can start and stop intermittently. This is so common it has a name - the "holiday heart" syndrome. (http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic1024.htm)
As Dr. Frank mentined, heavy alcohol can also cause cardiomyopathy (poor heart function), but your fast heart beats suggest atrial fibrillation is more likely to be the cause. You should avoid stimulants like caffeine or nicotine in the meantime (certainly avoid any more alcohol) and go to the urgent care or emergency room right now if your symptoms persist. They can do an EKG to verify the diagnosis.
Good luck! Hope that helps! Next time, take it easy with the alcohol.

I went through a similar phase when I was your age. They got so severe that it hospitalised me for a fortnight before I knew were i was. After an ECG scan, they discovered my heart was beating out of sinc!. Now at the age of 44, I am on tablets for life, to regulate my heart rhythm. My complexion is very rosy and I have days, after doing 10 minutes in the garden, when I literally collapse for 2/3 days on end.
I use to drink 7 days a week, and could quite often spend all week-end in the boozer. How I went to work I don't know!?.
One conciliation is that the place closed down, giving me plenty of time to reflect on my mad 5 years of constantly drinking.

You're body is dehydrated and withdrawing a bit. I won't scold you for drinking like others here. I've done my share of partying before and I've had this happen. Don't worry or freak out, you'll just make it worse. You're probably dehydrated, go drink some water and that'll help. Keep sucking on water and after a good nights rest you'll be back to your old self.

If your heart is still racing you should go at once to casualty. If it has settled make an appointment to see your GP in the near future. Alcohol is cardiotoxic (toxic to the heart) and this may have triggered it off, or it may be coincidental. If the rate is high and it continues it may need immediate treatment so do not delay!
