Sex about 4 years ago(it was without my consent, and I hate saying the R word). Three years I had been seeing this guy and decided to have sex because I wanted and because no one was frocing me to do it. Well after that i've had like a zillion pap smears. My first one in NoV 2003 the gyne only tested me for bacterial and HIV. Came back neg. I was still freaking out and decided to get tested again for everything! in 2004 march. I was seeing a diff gyne already. Everything came back fine. Then in 2005 I had a pap smear and everything came back fine. Now 2007, I got a new doc, the clinic just put me with a new doc, and says you have hsv2. I was sad so ******* sad. Then I got over it. Then a girl did a presentation on HPV. U can't detect that one through blood. Now that I have the herps =( is like, my mind is making me think I have everything! So hpv! can you have normal paps, but at the same time have hpv? My next pap is tuesday!

Having normal pap smears is great! That's what you want!
I have had HPV and genital herpes for over 6 years now. I have had several abnormal pap smears, but I have also had several normal ones too. I've also had a Leep procedure done to remove cancerous cells on my cervix. When a women has HPV the best news she can hear is "your pap was normal"! I wish I could hear that every time I go! I've been going to my OBGYN every 4 months for a pap smear for the last 6 years! Even though it's annoying, it's much better than having to go through having cervical cancer again!
Don't let your mind get the best of you! A lot of people tend to think they have certain illnesses and diseases even though they don't. Just wait until you get your pap done on Tuesday and see what they have to say. You might also want to ask them about the new vaccine for HPV called Gardasil! Good luck to you!

HPV would show up as abnormal cervical cells on a pap smear. If they do, you will need a biopsy to make sure they are not pre-cancerous. HPV can be contracted even if you use a condom and you can get it even without intercourse. Most people have it or have had it, it usually resolves on it's own. A form of it can cause genital warts.

yes you can have a normal pap and still have hpv. when you have a pap though make sure they do a special test for hpv. you are safe as long as hpv is a low number. if you end up with hpv 13 or hpv 18 then you are at risk of developing cervical cancer. i suggest a hpv test with your pap. it is nothing to be afraid of as long as they catch it in time.

Your pap would only become abnormal from HPV if it was active. Normally HPV doesn't do anything, about 80% of people have some form of HPV. You don't have to worry about it if you don't have any symptoms though, most people do have it and most strains are harmless!

All body warts are caused by HPV. and yes, you can have a normal pap and have HPV. the "abnormal pap" refers to having dysplasia, or abnormal cells. I would suggest you quit freaking out over HSV and HPV because freaking out is more unhealthy than having HSV or HPV.

I got clinically diagnosed with genital herpes (type 2) about 5 years ago, whilst I was still attending college and had a silly one-night stand. I understand loads of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and suddenly it seemed like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date men again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone who has sores round her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/bSwiK everything changed.
Not only was I able to eradicate all traces of the herpes virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This system gave me back the opportunity to be happy and experience real love again. Now I want to help others too by sharing this story.

Make sure you ask your doc to test you for HPV. There are vaccinations now for certain ages where you can prevent it. Better safe now than sorry later.

I have herpes. I did not know it until probably 3 years after I was affected. My husband and I have been together for 3 years, married 2 years. I contracted it from my ex boyfriend. I did not know I had a outbreak 4 months ago and went to the doctor. She advised me I have Herpes 2. I was so mad and upset. I thought my husband was cheating on me. I made him get tested and he does not have it. So this is how I knew who gave it to me. I have only had one outbreak. My doc told me that most people only have one outbreak. I just had a pap smear and it was normal. Herpes is not a death sentence, there is not a cure but there is medicines that can control outbreaks or the length of them when they do occur.
