The first thing to do is contact a diabetes care professional, usually a nurse who specialises in this field.

In general, the idea is to keep the sugar low, around 110 in the morning (fasting) and 140 two hours after a meal.

If the doctor perscribed medication - stick to it carefully. The meds help control the body's use and output of insulin. Watch the intake of carbohydrates - avoid too many of 'em. Stick to whole grains whenever possible.
Lots of water
Physical activity at least 3-4 times per week.
Drop excess weight (I lost 40 kg and my sugar dropped from an average 350 down to 150).

Invest in a glucose monitor. It helps to keep tabs on the sugar levels. The real test is the HB1AC number. It is a three month average of the sugars, and should be between 3.1-6.4. This is more important than an individual sugar reading.

Speak to your doctor about a referral to a professional. Avoid people here who will tell you to get an insulin shot. It is a clear sign that they are charlatans and do not know what they are talking about. Same with people who tell you about a cure for diabetes. Sadly, it can be controlled, but not cured.

If he is on pills, he is type 2.

Good luck and contact me if I can be of help.

300 will not cause a coma.At that level, he should drink lots of water and rest.
Why on earth didn't your doctor go over this with you both ? Get rid of this clown and go to a good endocrinologist.
Sign up for diabetes ed classes and an appointment with a dietitian.Read everything you can that was written about diabetes in the past five years.
Your husband has type 2 diabetes. If he had type 1 he would need to be on insulin right away.
Contact the American Diabetes Association for lots more info.
Good luck. It will take time to learn everything.Just get a new doctor right away.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Take the fast acting insulin that the doctor should have prescribed. If he is type 2, another option is to go do some physical activity because the pills do not have immediate action on blood sugar.
