Yes - and I'm not doing this one for the points, but where everybody quite rightly says "Will-Power" (to which I quite agree), when I quit (for good!) a few years ago, it wasn't so much will-power as Bravado! Prior to that I could smoke for Britain, sometimes with three on at the same time without even realising it, so when I decided to stop, I just told EVERYBODY that when the last pack was finished I would buy no more and they could tempt me as much as they liked, but I would always say "NO" - and it worked! I've neither smoked nor - more importantly - even fancied one since that last one out of that packet. So you don't even need will-power - just say "NO" and mean it - and good luck ! ! !

There are no drugs to quit smoking only drugs which help.
But why take a drug to cure a drug ? The only thing which really works is willpower. Give yourself some incentives too such as putting away the money that you would normally spend on cigarettes and treat yourself when you've got enough cash. Hope that this helps.

There's new drugs coming out all the time for quitting smoking. The FDA has just approved a couple new ones I believe.
Remember, drugs can help reduce the phyical need for smoking, but only you can actually quit smoking. I would say 90% of it is in your head.

Yes, it is called Chantix. It is a new medication recently approved by the FDA to help aid smokers in quitting. It actually blocks the receptors in the brain that make smoking pleasurable. In other words, Chantix blocks the cigarette from giving you that nicotine rush. Your doctor will usually prescribe the beginning pack. You take one tablet by mouth every day, then increase to two tablets. Your doctor may also choose to prescribe the continuing month to ensure your success in quitting smoking. You can visit http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/stop-smoking/HA00020 for more information.

IN RESPONSE TO GREENBUD..
What makes people think that us non-smokers dont know what its like to want to quit?
I smoked for 10 years and found it difficult, but getting rid of any addiction is.
The difference between us non-smokers who have quit, and smokers is that we worked through the difficulty of giving up.
I think we have every right to give advice on what has worked for us.

Yes, I t`s called Champix (varenicline) I stopped smoking on xmas day using it, acts on your brain and decreases craving for nicotine and makes cigs taste absolutely horrendous.you take it approx. 1 week before quitting and stay on it for 3 months, worked for me, I smoked 40 per day, well worth a try,
good luck.

You know what irritates the **** out of me? When NONSMOKERS try to give advice on something they've never had to deal with. It's like when your cat gets run over, or a parent dies and someone who's never experienced it says "Oh, I know how you feel." B-LOW ME! NO YOU DON'T. All people need to quit giving advice on **** they don't know anything about. Anyway, to answer the question, I would check with your doctor. I used Chantix, and while it kills the nicotine craving, it also makes you nauseaus for approximately an hour after you take it. Good luck.
