Because the Church needs to offer men activities where they can bond in a manly way, ie: fishing trips retreats, men study groups, family camping retreats, just a few ideas. Men are more uncomfortable, by nature, with things that are, so to speak, mushy. Example: singing in general, but singing songs that bring on their emotions. Hand holding, some churches will ask congregation to join hands, anyway, if the church attempted to offer other things that compensated for the uncomfortable feelings they have, then they would possibly learn to feel more comfortable with what they consider mushy. In other words, man friendly as well as women friendly, with the goal of it being family friendly.

Wow what an excellent question. Too bad you won't get many thoughtful responses.
Women are more naturally inclined to be spiritual while men are not. And yet the Bible calls for men to be the spiritual heads of their homes. The Bible commands men to love their wives, and yet makes no such commandment to women. Why? Perhaps because love comes easily for a woman. Women are instead commanded to respect their husbands, which does not come easily.
Oh wait I'm digressing. Back to church. In this country, many churches have been far too "feminized" for men's tastes. They are constantly being beaten in the head to love their wives, and yet there are few sermons directed toward women about respecting their husbands. Men are told to step up the plate and take responsibility for their children, but women are not told to place their children above their career. So in short, a man will go to church and hear about what a rotten sinner he is and his wife will rarely if ever get such correction.
Compare, for example, your pastor's sermon on Mother's Day to his sermon on Father's Day. You will hear quite a different message.
Combine that with the temptation of all day sports on Sunday, and you have a recipe for disaster.
The books "Wild at Heart," "Love and Respect" and the new program called "God Men" are attempting to change this predicament. I hope it succeeds.

Women tend to live longer so you tend to get a lot of older women who are widows. I’m not sure there is much difference in the younger ages, at least at my church.

I agree that more women are sinners than men. Woman body is sunful and evil and only a honest male can purify it.
