Survival.....love bonds parents to their kids so they will help and protect them survive in the world...same goes for spouses as if there is love between each other children are more likely to have both parents in it's life ..which gives the child a better chance of making it to adulthood. Nowadays in western countries 2 parents or any aren't always needed to survive but evolution has made us this way...so it's natural.
Also having the ability to have love for your neighbors/friends, unites the community and has made us work together to achieve great things, without it we will still be living in caves today.
Families (grandparents/aunts etc...tend to have stronger feelings of love towards their own, which comes from protecting your gene pool too.
Not sure why evolution has made us love other species, like our pets though...

Good question!Why do we love,because in the end that love faints and then we suffer.It's just the way we are.We seek affection from all the wrong people,and we keep wanting more and more.
