Typically where there is less flesh the tattoo will hurt more (ankle, wrist, hip, foot). Where it hurt the most for me was the one on my forearm when the needle was going over the crook of the elbow, that is a very sensitive spot. Hurt the least for me was the forearm again, away from the crook of the elbow, amazing how in one inch you go from not feeling it to high levels of pain.

Hurts worst where the bone is close,, like spine, elbows, shins, Best to try to keep to nice fleshy areas, like top of shoulder (upper arm) Thighs. But, it's all fairly the same, still hurts, colouring in hurts most, outlines are the best.
Have fun, :) Then brag about how much it hurt!

In my experience, the "rumor" that going over bone/near bone hurts the worst hasn't proven to be true. From my experience:

Worst-Armpit, back of knee, the elbow, upper inner arm, ribs, where the hand meets the arm.

Least-Shoulder, calf, lower back (tramp stamp area), shin, upper outer arm, back of the neck.

The areas of the body that are the "least exposed" to getting touched (back of the knee, ect), tend to be the most sensitive.

I personally think that the outlining hurts more than the coloring. I have had three done - one on my shoulder, one on my ankle and one on my lower back. I would have to say that the one on my lower back hurt the most followed by the one on my ankle. The bonier the area the more it will hurt...

That's going to depend from person to person, typically it will hurt more where there is less flesh like on the ankle or where there are more nerve endings like on the lower back.

tattoos hurt most on places closer to bone, I've heard that your rib cage hurts the most, and the least would probably be your butt or upper thigh

From my own experience, the ribcage, inside of the arm, and stomach are the worst.

The least were, the back of my neck, the outside of my arms and legs, and my shoulders.

I have them all over, wrist, neck, top and bottom of foot, spine, etc. The worst ones where the soft skin areas for me. Inner bicep, inner thigh, any areas of tender skin.
