Recently, I went to a lighting shop and I came upon this particular stuff with a remote control and a box-like device. I have no idea what it was, but since I found that in a lighting shop, I guess it has to do with lighting... So I wonder if there's a particular device where instead of switching the on/off button to a particular lamp/light manually, it could be remote-controlled. Meaning, by holding the remote control alone, you could on/off the light, (e.g. table lamp). instead of pressing the switch manually. I know this sounds weird... but we are living in a weird world, aren't we?

Just a little clarifiation, I'm looking for something that could be fit with a 3-pin socket electrical point. For example, say a table lamp which you buy from departmental store... and you plug it in to that device...and could use the remote control instantly...without having to hire an elctrician to get it done for me.

This stuff has been around for years. Radio Shack has a WALL of it and you can actually automate your entire home. Entry level devices are around $10. If you want to try whole-house automation (or more than one device, let's say) buy a system that allows expansion for what YOU want the system to do--that way you don't have fifty remotes!
