The Christian Mythos is constantly altering its paradigm to fit comfortably with the modern developments of the common knowledge. Examples of this are: the observation of the solar system, dinosaurs, Galapagos, anthropian-artifacts, genetics, et cetera.

What Nitzsche meant by the whole 'god is dead' phrase is that the superstitious behaviours of the religious masses were no longer socially necessary... they soon had become tools for social and psychological control, encouraging the detachment of the minds of the people from current technological progress and from a possible collective consciousness.

You're absolutely right. It's all about marketing a product. The New Improved Christianity! Now with extra Consistency with Reality!

Christianity works on the "If you can't beat them, join them" principle. They fight tooth and nail to restrain progress and crush any kind of science that contradicts the dogma, but once it's clear that the progress or the science cannot be held back, they go along with it and alter their position accordingly. Anything to court popularity.

I couldn't agree with you more. Catholics like to tell me that I should have another look at the Catolic church because it's more modern now and has revised what people are expected to believe. This would suggest that they alter the "truth" to suit the need to hold onto members.

Other christians seem to shop around for a church that suits there version of the truth.

The problem with this approach is that it totally ignores the spiritual side of the human being. Atheism is so narrow minded and only wants to deal with the humanistic side of mankind. The vast majority of people all over the face of this earth recognize that humans are far more complex than just the human side. The spiritual side of man is much more important than the humanistic side of man.

The Holy Spirit within you is trying to tell you what is right. If you be still for a little while and listen to God you will see life in a new light.
God is about faith, not fact. Fact will come later.

Good question although I believe we still maintain our core beliefs and are trying to get rid of medieval notions such as hating homosexuals. Also, when new information is provided we can shape our religion better for the modern world and leave prejudices towards other faiths and religions aside.

totally agree.

god is dead. and his remains are being paraded around as a political tool.

in the end everything christianity touches is touched for a political reason. it may not deal with actual politics but it is touched for a reaso nthat deals with a personal political opinion of others.

"political" does not necessarily mean dealing with governmental politics.
