The important message here is that submitting false documents is a crime - you have attempted to commit fraud against the government of Canada. It is very possible that the Canadian embassy will deny your immigrant application outright and refuse any future visa applications. The thing that you lied about - an auto mechanic diploma - may not be material to your application, but the fact that you lied illustrates your integrity to the authorities. Although they could refer your case to the local Philippine authorities, that is unlikely , and even if they did, it is highly unlikely that the Philippine authorities would take any action. You have learned a very difficult, painful lesson - perhaps others, too, can learn from your mistake.

Poor man, it's really sad... But how can people help out here ?? I think the worst thing that can happen to u is that the Canadian embassy won't let you into Canada ; they just won't give you a visa, because they'd now think you'd be doing the same thing in Canada ! These people are very strict, and it's quiet understandable.
In another hand, if their terms and conditions point that they could be prosecution against those who provide false documents, then I would suggest you go and seek advise from a good lawyer. I am not sure you'll end up in jail ; so many people did it before you, I guess...
Good luck to you

I don't think they will sue you, I've no clue about jail either.

They will likely decline your request for residency, and you may not be allowed in the country for a period of a few years.

It was good that you admitted sending the fraudulent papers, however, I think you've still tied their hands. An auto mechanic is not a prestigous career, though, and sadly, I doubt it would have mattered if you had that degree or not. Not having a degree would be better than lying about one.

I wouldn't worry about the issue, but I would not expect an approval either. Sorry, I know how the whole process can be nerve racking, as I am going through that in Australia, hope everything works out for you.

As noted previously, you have told a small lie, in the grand scheme of things. It wouldn't have affected your application much one way or the other if you had left it out.

I agree that the likely result is that you will be denied. I used to work as a tax collector in the UK and if we caught a taxpayer in a small lie we always wondered if they were keeping something bigger from us. It is natural to have those thoughts.

Please prepare yourself and your wife for rejection this time. About the best you can do (when rejection comes) is to politely ask when you would be allowed to apply again. Wait until that day - it may be several years. My point is that if you apply before they will even consider the application again, they will view you as desperate (at best) and perhaps a bit shady.

As for the penalties you might face, there is no point in Canada trying to jail you. It will be sufficient to ban you from entry. They have no grounds to sue you. The point of sueing someone is to recover costs but you have already paid for that so the Canadian government is not out of pocket. As you have not misled the Philippines government, I doubt they'd be too worried, even if they do get to find out about it.

Well, in the US people's citizenship has been revoked for submitting false documents, even when it is not discovered until years later. It is a dumb thing to do.

Mind you, the people in question were undesirable for other reasons (drugs etc) so I don't know how they deal with it for normal fraudulent document processors.

You will be arrested, and charged with lying to immigration, held, and questioned, then deported, unless the citizen's get to you first. If they do, you die. Simple question, you get a simple answer.
