God is both mother and father.
Anyone with a close personal relationship with God can not help but feel the unconditional love that flows from the Mother aspect of God.
This is why so many polytheistic belief systems came up with a feminine aspect or representation of God.
The idea that God is an angry white male is about as far from the real unconditionally loving God as one can get.
Meditate on this and you too will feel the truth.

God is not a hetero-normative construct of a traditional family.
Christians worship the CONSTRUCT of what SUITS their BELIEF of what they THINK GOD stands for. They WANT God to be heterosexual, so the Catholics labelled God a *father* and the Virgin Mary a *mother*. Mary was a VESSEL not a mother. God used her as a TOOL. You don't have to be hetero to be a parent..
God is a life force.
The nature of God is non-gender specific, sex-role neutral and familially unaware.
Saying that God is both a 'mother' and 'father' is like saying that the wind that blows the leaves off of trees is a hemophradite or the water in the ocean has genitalia.

Yes. You need the love and affection of mother as well as the strictness of father to mold you into an ideal son.Secondly God is the amalgamation of both mother and father aspect. Hence it is best if you consider him mother and father in one role. nagarajan.

no, absolutely not. God is not a HE-SHE. In God are male and female attributes much in the same way that only man has both the X and Y chromosomes that determine whether a child will either be a boy or a girl. It is the same way with God

Yes, this is a very good question. In my theology class, we talked about how many women mystics described God as a nurturing, motherly figure. The "manly" or "fatherly" figure is the God we know as the deliverer of justice and arbiter of all matters. So yes, we should think of God in this way, but remember, God is God. God has no gender. He is everything that is good combined into one being.

Well it all depends on how you define God. In mainstream christianity God is viewed as a fatherly spiritual creature. But I think that Gods qualities has both of masculine and feminine qualities, such as love, wisdom, justice, peace etc etc. In order for one to be comforted is to view God as a parental figure. But as long as it helps a persons faith somehow to grow and thrive then No harm i guess. I hope you found this at least somewhat helpfull.
