well as of now, the middle east is still very prosperous, there are only a few countries that are doing so bad. Even Iraq has signs of a growing economy. When you drive down the streets, you see at least a vendor on every street, selling Pepsi, Hershey bars, and squeegees . From what I was always told by iraqi's, is that iran is very nice, same with syria and saudi arabia.

As in the past, it will continue to be the worlds focal point for discontent, strife and political turmoil. It will change leadership a number of times and there will be wars and skirmishes between religious factions, all in the name of God of course.
But it could all change overnight if another energy source is discovered. The middle-east would go back to desert dweller status as they can't even feed themselves since they can't grow food in sand.
I would thoroughly enjoy watching it all as they ration their reserves to just live and once used up, they again become beggars and thieves while reminding the world how noble they were when they formed OPEC to price fix the worlds oil supply.

Same thing it's been for the past 25 years. A war torn wasteland.

the middle east will be a under marshal law on its way to getting its weapon policy back. the terrorists will slowly be fading away and american troops will be finally starting to evade in small numbers. we will be helping them raise and train an army and signed a peace treaty with them and we will be allies.
