If so, what are the safest places to live there? I know that the homicide rate there is far lower than that of America...but what about the other crimes?

Grasshopper: The other crimes include rape, forced robbery, aggravated assaults,...etc

Clive, do you mean that the suburbs of American cities are generally safer than the suburbs of UK cities, while large British cities are generally safer than their American counterparts?

Actually, I lived in both Fullerton, CA and Brea, CA (both are suburbs of LA) and I have to say that both were very very safe.

Again, I don't care about Muslims wanting to make trouble in Britain. I beleive this has to do more with race than with religion. No offesnse is meant, but I do believe that non-Whites (whether Blacks, Pakistanis,...etc) are generally more crime-inclined than whites; regardless of their religion.

I am British and lived in my homeland for many years, but now live in USA. In general in UK, as anywhere else, the major inner cities have the most crime of any sort, and are generally less safe places to live in terms of any crime you care to name.

Just my opinion (and it may be based on where I live in NJ) but there is less opportunistic crime here. I would never dream of leaving my car unlocked even for a second in UK, while dashing into a store for a soda, as most people do here, without a second thought. But there is certainly more gun crime in US. Near where I Iive there is an area of very mixed ethnicity, and there seems always to be trouble there. In fact I know someone who broke down there, and the police told him to move his car as soon as humanly possible and get the heck out of there! I'm sure UK will catch up in the gun stakes though, sadly.

I actually found New York to be far less intimidating than London, even though I expected to feel threatened just walking around. I even felt safer on the subway than on the London Underground, but perhaps I was being naive.

So the short answer to your question is that it very much depends on where you live in UK, but I think that on balance it is safer because there are fewer shootings. Generally the suburbs of any city in UK are safe places to live, and many country villages are still probably virtually crime-free in comparison.

I understand that UK cities are safer than those in the US but US suburbs have lower crime rates than those in the UK. This is because the extensive gun ownership in the US ensures many burglars are culled before they have the opportunity to re-offend. This is one of the more appealing aspect of American life.
I live in a Suffolk hamlet that has been fairly safe so far because a vehicle stopped on the road would attract immediate attention.

Ahmed, the UK is still a safe place to live by comparison to the US.
Its the muslims that seem to want to stir up trouble there, and some are born there, they should know better.
Whereas in the US you dont seem to need a reason to shoot someone, having a bad day is enough !!
What other crimes do you mean?

I've never been successfully mugged, they've tried a few times, poor lads, well they weren't really muggings just opportunists trying to grap my bag or purse (there's a difference over here).

Other than that, the closest I've been to crime is on the television or hearing sirens. ....

I tell a lie, I came out of work a few months ago and was just passing the chippy when I saw a commotion up by the lights, a young lad was on the ground and a man was leaning over him. I thought the youngster had collapsed and the man was trying to revive him so I started towards them getting my mobile out and shouted to them to see if I could be of any help.

The man looked round, quite irritated and it was at that moment I noticed POLICE emblazoned on his jacket .... oops.

Would like to ask you to consider this, in response to your statement that nonwhites are more pre-disposed to violence/crime.

Isnt that very statement the manifestation of the foundation of bias that has helped to progapate this conflict?

The one biggest reason why conflicts are never resolved is because many people judge others without first looking to see if they themselves have not somehow contributed to aggravating the problem.

I started to read, and i was going to say oh Ahmed, its horrible dont come, but continued to read, and realised your thoughts on this stupid race issue, you are correct in what you say, so yes it is safe, lovely country (of course everywhere has bad bits) but in general, yes its a beautiful great place. Its just these idiots that get all the press.

it depends on where u r from. if u r from japan of course the uk doesnt look so safe. but if u r from malaysia where i came from, the uk is way much safer. here if u r women and walk alone be careful of ur handbag bcoz there are snatch theft occuring even in the busy street and early morning in kuala lumpyr. and a lot of people died from snarch theft too. sure of course it happens in london too but at a much smaller case.
