It only makes sense if he is Omnipotent as you claim he can lie if he want to. You have no idea what God will do if only for his own amusement. He could be like a kid playing with insects. He could feed them for awhile and play with them and suddenly decide to stomp them. Wham! God bless.

God is the term in english language for omnipresence. Some call him Alla ,some call him Dev / Bhagavan / Ishwar . This is differences in lingual terms . He / She / It is the same everywhere. That omnipresence only observes.'That' does not act or react. 'That' does not judge and reward or punish. The biological presence of living things, when they grow up have their own mind which is followed by thoughts. The biological presence experiences and judges. It acts and reacts. The cosmic presence does not do it . 'It' is mere a presence and being . 'It' is beyond physical presence therefor beyond mind and thoughts, therefor non commital and non judgemental. Everything ( including us ) is occupied by 'It'. To understand 'It' , to understand nothingness one has to unite with 'It'. After that there can be no action ( play and torture ) or reaction (again play or torture) .

If God can lie, then He's not called God. If He's as childish as you think, then He wouldn't have created you in His image in the first place. God doesn't play with insects, He's here for the people.

G-d is not human, nor capable of lying because anything that comes from Him is life-giving & fruitful. Lying leads to death. As humans, we tend to lie, but G-d does not.
As a person develops a relationship with Him, they will see that G-d is absolutely trustworthy & is not into amusing Himself with a petty deceitful trait such as lying.

As David Hume said, we can't know anything about the world outside ourselves. To do so is irrational. As Descartes said, we can only feel that God is purely good, so that we may be able to trust what he has provided us with.

What I can't understand is how they can say they think they know what he's thinking. Sorry, but he's a diety. Human beings haven't got the capacity to know what a diety is thinking.

You obviously do not know the character and nature of God. He does not lie. Neither does he use His creations for evil purposes. Perhaps if you got to know Him, then your obvious ill opinion of Him would change.

That is the difference between Christians and you. We know who God is.
