religion is external, spirituality is internal. religion is ritualistic. religion is like a path, formed by great men for the benefit of us common ppl to reach the goal god. religion is not the be all n end all. just like a float that u use while learning how to swin; u discard it when u have learnt the art. we must see the unity of religions, not the diversity. service is one of essentials in religion, like there is prayer, development of virtuos quality, attitude of surrender to God, expansion of love, seeing everyone as the child god.

Religion is the ultimate practical philosophy of life. It teaches us to live life happily, contently,peacefully and most importantly , to help others to live like myself. It helps to destroy the false ego in us , by accepting that all are my brothers and sisters and relatives. This ends all the man made conflicts which we had created artificially.
Naturally the other things follow. If you see somebody in pain and if you believe he/she is your very close person , will you not help him?Is this only a service to the humanity or a service to my own kin?
Is this not the essence of the religion of Humanity?And is there any greater or separate religion in humanity? Humanity is the basis of all religions.
Our Great Swamiji went a step further and proclaimed (like all great teachers , for whom not only the humans , but all the living beings are equal) "Jeeve Daya Kare Jei Jon , Sei Jon Sebichhe Ishwar." This means that you are satisfying the gods (real puja), by serving his lowliest of the lowly creatures(irrespective of caste,creed,religion).

'Service To Humanity' is one of the karma needed to balance the previous karma. It is a guide to human beings which will generate a desire to know god. this will break the cycle of birth and death.

you mean deluding peoples minds? maybe some giving of false hope? some empty threats. fear of eternal damnation for the nonreciprocation of beleif....
oh yeah...service to humanity.
oh yeah! maybe like going to 3rd world counties and telling starving people that:
1. condoms are evil (ignoring the epidemic of AIDS)
2. if you dont beleive youll go to hell
3. if you touch yourself you go to hell
4. i bring no food but heres a bible.
