I keep reading the assertion that "religion has caused most of the wars throughout history" or words to that effect, both here and elsewhere. Can anybody actually support that statement, or are we just to take it on faith? Because my study of history yields a very different picture.

EDIT: If the conclusion is obvious, then it should be easy to find some evidence to support it. Personally I like to see the evidence first and come to conclusions after-- that's another one of my goofy Christian superstitions.

I have always been upset by the presentation of religion as REAL cause of war.
Religions are excuses and major motivators.
God And Country!!
For The Glory Of God!!!
GOD IS ON OUR SIDE !!!! No, wars are fought over weath and power, over land and women. Yes women.
What women want they get.
Women want to breed.
they want to breed to strong men.
so they can have strong kids
Men are kept strong by fighting.
women make men fight!
the survivors get to breed!
evolution!
unfortunately true ................

Ever heard the phrase " for god, king and country"? It's been twisted for every type of governmrnt, but the thought is the same. religion is involved in some way in the vast majority of war. Either directly, or indirectly.

Atheism. You know it makes sense.

well id love to see your studies.

religion AS A WHOLE! has killed more than anything else.

al lyou have to do is compare the time religion has been around to the time politics have been around.

the conclusion is obvious and no further investigation is required. every day someone is killed in the name of religion. regardless of which one it is.

its more than obvious.

and i WOULD like to see exactly what youve been "studying"

While I can say that religion has sparked many wars, so has politics, money, and imperialism. Religion does not have the monopoly on war.

You are right, they are trying to incite a riot. It's what those who do not read history are doomed to repeat!
