Depends how you define reliable. In the strictest sense, digital applications are less reliable than analogue. A glitch on the power going to a digital computer will cause the computer to crash. You need to come along and manually restart it. In contrast an analogue computer in the same scenario would just keep going. You might see a small spike on the ouptut, but that's it. Digital computers also have a lower Mean Time between failure (MTBF) than an analogue computer designed to complete the same task. This is becasue the digital computer contains many millions more transistors than the analogue. Digital computers are more flexible and more precise than their analogue counterparts, but that's not what the question asks.
