Yes, you can.

But there is a good chance that U.S. customs will send them back, as they cannot be imported without a licence.

You are not permitted to send any controlled drugs, weather they be by prescription or what to another country without a licence to do so. These drugs will be confiscated by the customs. It is necessary to state what is in the packet when you are sending goods overseas and if you don't put the correct contents on the customs declaration you could find yourself in trouble with the customs people as this would be considered as smuggling drugs.

I know it is ILLEGAL to post 'classified' (Controlled) drugs within the UK postal System. You would also have to check with the law at rhe recieving end, in this case the USA.

You need a licience!
